Level 1 Award in Youth Work Practice (5 Credits)

Level 1 Award in Practical Youth Work/Ministry Skills (6 Credits

This qualification targeted at young people (14+) is designed for learners who have been involved in a youth group and have leadership aspirations. The qualification consists of three core themes, which enable learners to gain an understanding of leadership within a youth group, develop communication skills to support their leadership development, and implement leadership with others through the planning, delivery and evaluation of a youth work activity.

Level 1 Award in Peer Mentoring for Young People (3 Credits)

This qualification targeted at young people (14+) has been designed to help learners understand the role of the peer mentor and the benefits it can bring to people and communities.

Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice (24 Credits)

This Certificate qualification for adults (18+) currently in a leadership capacity within a youth work/ministry context incorporates the Award -13 credits and is made up of 10 units covering a range of topics such as the context of youth work in Northern Ireland as well as providing an understanding of the needs of young people, health and safety, safeguarding and managing challenging behaviour. It also includes knowledge and guidance on how to plan, deliver and evaluate a youth work activity. This Level 2 Certificate is assessed through a written portfolio of material and evidence of engagement in workshop activities.

This qualification targeted at young people (14+) is aimed at young people who wish to do introductory training in youth work/ ministry leadership development, with a view to progressing on to further youth work training in later life. It provides learners with knowledge in leadership development, delivery and evaluation of a youth work/ministry activity.

Level 2 Award in Mentoring Practice (3 Credits)

This qualification aimed at adults (18+) has been designed to help learners to develop effective mentoring skills and techniques and understand mentoring relationships.

Level 3 Certificate in Youth Work Practice (15 Credits)

This qualification for adults (18+) currently working or volunteering in a youth work/ministry context is designed to develop and enhance competence in the planning, delivery and evaluation of a group work programme in a youth work context. A prerequisite for entry to this programme is the achievement of the Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice, since this Level 3 programme builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills gained through the Level 2 programme.

Level 2 Handling Life’s Conflict (3 Credits)

This programme open to both adults and young people (14+) is an introductory course for those interested in exploring the nature of conflict and ways of managing relationships, differences and conflicts that can arise. The programme also seeks to support individuals and groups to contribute to peace building processes within local contexts.

Level 2 Understanding Mediation (3 Credits)

This programme for both adults and young people (14+) enables participants to gain an understanding of mediation and its role in conflict resolution. It is a useful progression opportunity for those who have completed the Level 2 Handling Life's Conflicts Programme. In addition, it provides a valuable introduction to the principles and practices of mediation, in order to build capacity within church or community youth work settings or among peer mentors in schools.

These qualifications for adults and young people (14+) have been designed to support learners with effective personal, social, health and well-being development, strengthening their academic competence and supporting further progression.

Level 2 Award & Certificate in Personal Success & Well-being

These qualifications available to adults and young people (14+) for whom a Level 2 qualification will strengthen their academic competence, have been designed to support learners with effective personal, social, health and well-being development. This certificate qualification is considered equivalent to one GCSE grade B.

Level 1 Award in Diversity & Good Relations (3 Credits)

This qualification aimed at young people (14+) has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the importance of diversity and good relations. It helps learners become more aware of diverse groups and the importance of respect within them.

Level 2 Award in Diversity & Good Relations (3 Credits)

This qualification for young people (14+) has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the importance of diversity and good relations. It helps learners to develop a sound awareness of diverse groups and the importance of respect within them. Learners will have a better understanding of what is meant by prejudice and discrimination and will recognise the value of equal opportunities legislation.

Level 2 Award in Community Relations, Equality & Diversity (11 Credits)

This qualification for adults (18+) has been designed to introduce youth workers and volunteers to the Department of Education's CRED Policy, with the aim of improving community relations, promoting equality and acceptance of diversity. The programme addresses the core principles underpinning CRED as well as developing an understanding of community conflict, discrimination and skills to address CRED issues in a youth work context.

Non Accredited Training: Remembering the Past; Shaping the Future

This programme for young people in schools and youth groups (15+) is aimed at addressing sectarianism and building an inclusive society and future based on the common good. It centres on four themes:

1. Pursuing the common good

2. Civic participation

3. Mediation and conflict transformation

4. Shared and ethical remembering.

Youth Link can also provide a range of bespoke, practical based workshops, that support youth workers and volunteers, to explore themes related to reaching out, and building positive relationships with diverse communities, cultures, faiths & traditions
