Youth Link Prepare to Launch Youth Forum
Youth Link is preparing to launch a Youth Forum to give young adults 18-24, a voice in and on behalf of church-based youth work.
Aims
- Young adults get to know each other and build relationships.
- Young adults discover what the core ethos of Youth Link: NI is and what their role is in Northern Ireland.
- Identify the needs of young people within the four larger churches.
- Begin to stimulate an enthusiasm for strong inter church relations
- Contribute to reconciliation and justice issues in Ireland.
Long Term Vision
- The Youth Forum would have meaningful participation within the life of Youth Link, building this idea into the ongoing workings and vision of the organisation.
- There will be a regional spread of young people involved within the Youth Forum, rural and urban.
- Young people will be able to make a contribution to Youth Link Council.
- Young people will have a voice with regard to development of Youth Link programmes.
- Young people could represent Youth Link at public events, eg Knock Youth Festival, Summer Madness, Certificate Presentation.
- Young people will be involved in designing projects.
- Youth Forum could feed into the NI Youth Assembly.
Short term goal for next year
- The Youth Forum is a pilot scheme and should have flexibility to move and change as the young people steer.
- By September 2011 –
- The young people are consulted and informed.
- The young people are trained and prepared to be group leaders.
- The young people will understand what Youth Link is all about.
- The Youth Forum has regional representation as well as strong representation of the four larger churches.

Preparatory weekend 23-25 April at Greenhill YMCA then:

Launch Night - Thursday 29th April – Oh Yeah Centre, Belfast. Interviews, drama, presentations.
