The Youth Forum Launch

The launch weekend, held in Greenhill YMCA Centre, was attended by six young people from Youth Link’s member Churches, Council members and staff.

The young people were invited to help Youth Link think about how a Youth Forum could be established. Through games and social times the group bonded and began to see the diversity amongst themselves as well as the similarities and faith experiences from the different denominations.

The main aim of the weekend was to help the young people to grasp the ethos of Youth Link and how important an impact the organisation has had, and could have, in the future of Northern Ireland.

Caroline from the NI Youth Forum, helped by asking discerning questions to help us journey together through ideas.  By Sunday the group had decided on key concepts that could move the Forum in a positive direction.  Short term stepping stones were put in place to help keep up momentum for the group.

The Launch Night on 29 April gave Council members, staff and Church representatives an opportunity to hear some ideas surrounding the vision, objectives and stepping stones of Youth Link’s Youth Forum.  Approximately 20 people listened to two of the young people from the weekend sharing their experiences.  Live music entertained the guests, photographs of the weekend were displayed and an enthusiasm for the future of the Youth Forum was conveyed to all those who attended.
