Outreach and Detached Youth Work

In January, a group of 17 volunteers and staff from a variety of youth and community organisations began OCN Level 3 Outreach and Detached Youth Work Training.  The programme is supported by the Youth Council for Northern Ireland, and is a pilot of a unit designed and endorsed by the Youth Work Training Board.   

 

This first group of participants come from a wide variety of organisations across Belfast, with the majority working in outreach and detached youth work either along interfaces or in areas where there is a lack of youth provision.    

 

The programme consists of both a tutored programme, delivered over eight sessions, and assessment on the streets.  Already there are plans that a second programme of training will commence in October 2010.
