Diversity Project (YESIP)

YESIP DIVERSITY PROJECT

This project is funded through YESIP central funds and it explores cultural diversity with young adults from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. The group is currently exploring the issues that young people from new migrant communities face as they enter and live in Northern Ireland. They are also exploring how young people from different cultural backgrounds who have been resident in Northern Ireland now face prejudice and discrimination. The group is working to develop a resource which will enable youth workers to work more sensitively and effectively with these issues.

This project has been funded through the YESIP central funds and it is hoped that the group will develop a creative resource that they can launch during Community Relations Week 2012. The group is currently planning to engage with more young people and to have a residential in the next quarter. They are also going to consider engaging with a publisher who will help with the development of a resource.
