Accredited Training Programmes Under this Scheme
This is a new and exciting accredited training and work placement programme for young people aged 18-25 which commences in September 2011.
The apprentices will build relationships across the community as they complete a suite of community relations, youth work and citizenship courses which are fully accredited through OCN NI.
The training includes:
Year One
- Keeping Safe Child Protection Training
- Outdoor Education and Teambuilding residential
- Citizenship/Democracy training to include visits to democratic institutions
- OCN NI Training for youth Work
- Level 1: Good Relations and Cultural Diversity
- Level 2: Introduction to Youth Work
- Level 2: Handling Life’s Conflicts
Year Two
- Level 2: Community Relations Work - An Equity Diversity and Interdependence Training Programme
- Level 3: Programme Development
- Level 3: Working with Others in a Youth Work Context
- Level 3: Programme Development for CR/EDI Work with Young People
- Level 3: Outreach and Detached Youth Work
Each apprentice will complete a work based placement for a minimum of 16 hours per week within a faith based youth work setting in their own community.
Each apprentice can remain on the programme for up to 2 years.
Successful completion of this programme will enhance future opportunities for professional training and/or employment in community youth work/youth ministry.
